Circuit Description

When the switch is closed, the trunk release switch supplies ground input to the DDSA. Upon receiving the important release switch requirement, this input allows DDSA for inspection

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC B2730 Trunk Release Switch Circuit

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DDSA communicates detects the failure for 60 consecutive seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The DDSA stores DTC B2730 in the memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DDSA does not detect the failure in the liftgate release switch signal circuit any longer.
    • The history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive ignition cycles have occurred, if no failure exists.
    • The scan tool used for clearing the history and current DTCs.

Diagnostic Aids

The malfunction cause may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Rear Release Switch parameter in the driver door switch assembly (DDSA) data list.

Does the scan tool display Inactive?

Go to Step 3

  1. Activate the liftgate release switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the rear release switch parameter.

Does the rear release switch parameter change state?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the liftgate release switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch, with the engine OFF.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the rear release switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display Inactive?

Go to Step 7

Test the rear release switch signal circuit(s) for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Check for poor connections at the harness connector of the DDSA. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Check for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid release switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the DDSA.

Replace the driver door switch assembly (DDSA).

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.

Does the DTC reset?
