Ground inputs from contacts inside the tilt/telescoping switch. The IPM receives the signal and then sends it via the GMLAN to the memory seat module (MSM). The memory seat module then supplies battery voltage to the tilt motor up or down circuit or the telescope motor in or out circuit depending on which direction of movement is requested.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B2902 Tilt Telescope 4 Way position switch circuit
(steering column tilt/telescope malfunction)
This vehicle has DTCs which include DTC symptoms. For more information on DTC Symptoms, refer to DTC Symptom Description.
The IPM is awake, all the voltages are normal.
Switch is short to power for more than the calibrated time.
• | It is not available to the tilt/telescope switch input signal, until the DTC is cleared. |
• | IPM will turn off the tilt/telescoping function until voltage is normally. |
• | A current DTC will clear when the failed switch input is no longer active. |
• | Use a scan tool. |
An intermittently stuck switch can cause this DTC to set. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections.
Refer to Schematic and Routing Diagrams in Steering Wheel and Column.
