Warning: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.

1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Remove the front compartment sight shields as necessary. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement.
3. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.



4. Remove the coolant temperature sensor.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. Install the coolant temperature sensor and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).



2. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
3. Inspect and fill the cooling system as necessary. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
4. Install the front compartment sight shields as necessary. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement.
