J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 794577  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the outer tie rod jam nut (1).

  5. Object Number: 794579  Size: SH
  6. Remove the outer tie rod retaining nuts.

  7. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  8. Using J 24319-B disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.

  9. Object Number: 794580  Size: SH

    Note: Note the number of turns during removal and make a mark for installation.

  10. Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 794580  Size: SH

    Note: Use the same number of turns that was used during removal.

  1. Install the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod. Do not tighten the jam nut at this time.

  2. Object Number: 794578  Size: SH
  3. Connect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the outer tie rod retaining nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).

  7. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
