Draining Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Clean any dirt from around the differential drain plug.
- Place a drain pan under drain plug.
- Remove the drain plug from the differential and drain the fluid.
Filling Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: The drain plug must be clean, free of foreign material, prevent foreign material entering drain hole.
- Install the drain plug to the differential.
Tighten
Tighten the differential drain plug to 35 ± 8 N·m (26 ± 6 lb ft).
- Clean any dirt from around the differential fill plug.
- Remove the fill plug from the differential.
- Fill the differential with 75W90 synthetic axle lubricant , SGM P/N 89021677 or equivalent. Refer to
Lubrication Specifications.
- Inspect the gear lubricant level to ensure it is even with the bottom of the fill plug hole to no lower than 6 mm (0.25 in) below the opening.
- Install the fill plug to the differential.
Tighten
Tighten the fill plug to 35 ± 8 N·m (26 ± 6 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
