Special Tools

1. Remove the drive pinion flange nut (1) using J 34826 while holding the flange with the J 45012 and a bumper.

Discard the nut.




2. Remove the drive pinion flange from the shaft. Refer to Drive Pinion Flange/Yoke and/or Oil Seal Replacement.



3. Place the drive pinion cover into a press.
4. Remove the drive pinion shaft and bearing from the cover using the J 45006 and a hydraulic press.



5. Remove the spacer from the drive pinion shaft.



6. Install the J-22912-01 press plates  (2) onto the drive pinion shaft, under the inner-bearing race.
7. Place the drive pinion shaft in a press to remove the bearing from the shaft.
8. Install the J 45006  (1) and press the bearing from the drive pinion shaft.



9. Remove the drive pinion oil seal (1) and the drive pinion bearing (2) from the bearing cover (3).
