J 44827 Transmission Cooler Quick Disconnect

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1350216  Size: SH

    Note: It is not necessary to discharge the refrigerant from the A/C system during auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler (TOC) front line replacement.

    Remove the A/C condenser mounting bolts and reposition the condenser.

  1. Reposition the condenser to access the auxiliary transmission oil cooler lines. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement.
  2. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler (TOC) lines from the TOC.
  3. Disconnect the TOC line from the TOC retainer clip (1).

  4. Object Number: 1351414  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts that connect the TOC to the cooling fan shroud.

  6. Object Number: 1710028  Size: SH
  7. Remove the LH front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Remove the LH front splash shield retainers.
  9. Remove the LH front splash shield.
  10. Remove the rear TOC line to transmission bolt.
  11. Disconnect the rear TOC lines from the transmission.
  12. Remove and discard the seal.
  13. Remove the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  14. Remove the TOC lines.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1710028  Size: SH
  1. Install the TOC lines.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft)

  5. Install new seals to the TOC lines.
  6. Connect the TOC lines to the transmission.
  7. Install the TOC line to transmission bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft)

  9. Install the LH front splash shield.
  10. Install the LH front splash shield retainers.
  11. Install the LH front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  12. Object Number: 1351414  Size: SH
  13. Install the bolts that secure the TOC to the cooling fan shroud.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6.5 N·m (58 lb ft)


    Object Number: 1350216  Size: SH
  15. Connect the TOC line to the TOC retainer clip (1).
  16. Connect the TOC lines to the TOC.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft)

  18. Reposition and reinstall the condenser. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement.
