Removal Procedure
- Remove the master cylinder from the vehicle. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement.
- Remove the fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
- Drain the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
- Carefully tap out the reservoir retaining pins until clear of reservoir.
- Remove the reservoir from the master cylinder.
- Remove the seals from the master cylinder reservoir.
Installation Procedure
- Inspect the reservoir for cracks or deformities. If found, replace the reservoir.
- Clean the reservoir with clean denatured alcohol, or equivalent.
- Dry the reservoir with non-lubricated, filtered air.
Note: Use SGM P/N 93730597 brake fluid, for VIN LSGDE53A88H052546 and after or SGM P/N 93735280 or equivalent DOT-4.04, for VIN LSGDE53A99H052546, brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container only.
- Lubricate the new seals and the reservoir bayonets with new brake fluid.
- Install the seals, making sure they are fully seated.
- Install the reservoir onto the master cylinder by pressing straight down by hand until pin holes are aligned.
- Carefully tap in the reservoir retaining pins to secure the reservoir.
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir. Refer to
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling.
- Install the brake fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
- Install the master cylinder to the vehicle. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement.
