Removal Procedure
Note: The intermediate brake hose assembly is serviced as an assembly.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and the brake pipe fittings.
Note: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in order to prevent brake fluid loss and/or contamination.
- Disconnect the crossover brake pipe fitting (1) from the intermediate brake hose assembly (3) and cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end.
- Lift the retaining clip (2) over the end of the brake hose and using a flat-bladed tool, remove the brake hose retainer (2) from the rear frame assembly.
- Remove the intermediate brake hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted or kinked after installation. Damage to the hose could result.
- Install the intermediate brake hose assembly (3) to the retaining bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Connect the intermediate brake hose assembly (3) and the brake pipe fitting (2).
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the retaining clip (2) over the end of the brake hose.
