Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Are any indicators illuminated?

Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the ignition switch.
  3. Install a scan tool.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Key in Ignition parameter in the Dash Integration Module Data list.

Does the Key in Ignition parameter display No?

Go to Step 6

Test the ignition key alarm switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the key switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
