The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:

Service VME
Customer concerns of power steering leak may be found to be caused by power steering return pipe rub-through at the transmission oil cooler lines. This can be observed when the vehicle is hoisted in the air, at the left front cradle area of the engine compartment.

Recommendation/Instructions:
To correct the condition, replace the return pipe and verify clearance to the transmission oil cooler lines. Early January built vehicles were contained with a plastic wrap on the pipe. Permanent change to the pipe routing occurred at the plant 6/21/04.
