Parking Brake Cable Release Tool
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
- Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable (2) from the park brake connector (1).
- Use the
J 37043
in order to depress the rear brake cable
retainer.
- Remove the rear park brake cable from the rear cable bracket (1).
- Disconnect the park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).
- Remove the park brake cable bracket mounting bolts.
- Remove the park brake cable bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the park brake cable bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 park brake cable bracket mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the park brake cable bracket mounting bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
- Install the rear park brake cable (2) to the rear park brake cable bracket (1).
- Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
- Connect the rear park brake cable (2) to the park brake actuator lever (3).
- Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
- Connect the intermediate park brake cable (2) to the park brake connector (1).
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- To ensure that the park brake cable retainers are seated, cycle the park brake pedal 1 to 2 times.
