The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment about a muffled rattle noise from the front end when driving over bumps. The noise is gone with light brake apply.
Inspect the front brake pads to make sure the noise insulating pad that is attached to the back side of the steel brake pad has not separated. If the noise insulating pad is separated, replace the brake pads and re-evaluate. If the noise insulating pad is not separated, inspect the caliper mounting bracket for a green dot on the caliper bracket near the hole that the caliper slide pin goes through on the side making the noise only. If there is not a green dot, replace the caliper bracket for the side making noise only. The part number for the bracket is 18047987. The part number is the same for both sides. If there is a green dot on the caliper bracket on the side making the noise, contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for further direction.
