Transmission Fluid Leak From Manual Shaft Bore Plug - keywords seal shaft

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment on a leak from the manual shaft plug (item #512 in illustration 1748815). This leak is from the plug, not from the manual shaft seal (#507). The plug is on opposite side of the transmission from the shift linkage attachment.

If this plug is determined to be leaking please take a digital photograph showing the plug installation to the case and contact Mike Johnston @ 586-575-3677. Mike will provide an e-mail address to send the photo. A replacement plug is available from GMSPO as P/N 96022192.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
