1. Infra Red Module Inoperative -- headphone and remote inoperative. 2. No or distorted left audio when listening to DVD. 3. No or distorted right audio when listening to DVD. 4. No or distorted audio on both channels when listening to DVD. 5. No or distorted left audio when listening to rear seat audio. 6. No or distorted right audio when listening to rear seat audio. 7. No or distorted audio on both channels when listening to rear seat audio. |
The rear video display contains infrared transmitters for the wireless headphones and the infrared receiver for the video system remote control. The rear video display processes the signal from the remote devices and sends the requests to the radio via the remote infrared signal circuits. If the display is in the closed position, the infrared signals will not be available for the operation of the wireless headphones and the remote control.

Video Entertainment System Description and Operation
⇒ | If the power indicator lamp does not illuminate, replace the wireless headphones. |
⇒ | If all of the headphones are inoperative, or the sound is distorted, refer to Circuit/System Testing. |
⇒ | If only one of the headphones is not producing sound, or the sound is distorted, replace the appropriate set of headphones. |
Note: The infrared transmitter is internal to the rear video display.
• | Terminal 6 |
• | Terminal 14 |
⇒ | If greater than specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If less than specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear seat audio module. |
⇒ | If less than specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio. |
• | Left DVD audio signal (+) - terminal 3 |
• | DVD audio common (-) - terminal 10 |
• | Right DVD audio signal (+) - terminal 11 |
⇒ | If AC voltage is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio. |
• | Left infra red audio signal (+) - terminal 1 |
• | Infra red audio common (-) - terminal 2 |
• | Right infra red audio signal (+) - terminal 9 |
⇒ | If AC voltage is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RSA. |
