Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 767222  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  6. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from the backing plate.

  7. Object Number: 906775  Size: SH
  8. Remove the wheel drive shaft retaining nut and discard.

  9. Object Number: 907337  Size: SH
  10. Carefully remove the upper control arm to knuckle retaining nut.

  11. Object Number: 802249  Size: SH
  12. Using J 43631 carefully separate the upper control arm from the knuckle.

  13. Object Number: 906780  Size: SH

    Caution: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this caution may result in damage to the CV boot.

  14. Carefully remove the wheel bearing/hub retaining bolts.

  15. Object Number: 899220  Size: SH
  16. Install J 45859 ,Snap-on - CJ129 Universal Hub Puller, OTC - 7394 Universal Hub Puller, or equivalent to the vehicle.
  17. Using J 45859 , Snap-on - CJ129 Universal Hub Puller, OTC - 7394 Universal Hub Puller, or equivalent, carefully separate the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing/hub.
  18. Remove the wheel bearing/hub from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 906780  Size: SH

    Caution: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this caution may result in damage to the CV boot.

  1. Install the wheel bearing/hub to the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub retaining bolts and tighten to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 907337  Size: SH
  5. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle. Refer to Upper Control Arm Replacement.

  6. Object Number: 906775  Size: SH
  7. Install a new wheel drive shaft retaining nut and tighten to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).
  8. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  9. Object Number: 906772  Size: SH
  10. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector to the backing plate.
  11. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  12. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
