- Install the pinion head bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J 24433 and a hydraulic press.
- Assemble the pinion shaft (4), the housing (2), the spacer (3) and the bearing (1).
- Press the bearing onto the pinion shaft using the J 24433 and a hydraulic press.
- Lightly lubricate the outer diameter of the seal with axle lube.
- Install a NEW pinion seal using the J 45005 .
- Install the pinion flange onto the shaft.
- Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to clean the threads of the pinion nut.
- Install the pinion flange nut and tighten to 245 N·m 181 lb ft) while holding the flange with J 45012 and breaker bar.
- Remove J 45012 .
