Radiator Surge Tank Replacement Left Hand Drive

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1334992  Size: SH
  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector and reposition aside.
  3. Using the J 38185 , disengage and reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp.
  4. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose.
  5. Using the J 38185 , disengage and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp.
  6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose.

  8. Remove the surge tank bolt.
  9. Remove the surge tank nut.
  10. Disconnect the low coolant sensor electrical connector.
  11. Remove the surge tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the surge tank.

  2. Object Number: 1334991  Size: SH
  3. Connect the low coolant sensor electrical connector.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the surge tank nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the surge tank bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.

  9. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank.
  10. Using the J 38185 , reposition the hose clamp to secure the surge tank inlet hose.
  11. Connect the surge tank outlet hose.
  12. Using the J 38185 , reposition the hose clamp to secure the surge tank outlet hose.
  13. Connect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  14. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.

  1. Remove the surge tank outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose/Pipe Replacement.
  2. Remove the surge tank inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement.

Surge Tank Mounting Nut (Qty: 1)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
6 N·m (53 lb in)

Surge Tank Mounting Bolt (Qty: 1)

Tighten
6 N·m (53 lb in)
