Suction Hose Replacement LY7 without C57

Special Tools

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  3. Note: It is not necessary to completely remove the power steering and A/C compressor drive belt.

  4. Disconnect the drive belt from the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1348923  Size: SH
  6. Remove the suction hose retaining bolt from the A/C compressor.
  7. Disconnect the suction hose from the A/C compressor.
  8. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.

  9. Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  10. Separate the suction hose from the clamp.
  11. Remove the suction hose quick connect fitting (1). Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement.
  12. Disconnect the suction hose from the thermal expansion valve (TXV) suction tube.
  13. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
  14. Remove and discard the O-rings from the suction hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  1. Install new O-rings onto the suction hose. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
  2. Install the suction hose.
  3. Connect the suction hose to the TXV suction tube.
  4. Install the suction hose quick connect fitting (1). Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement.
  5. Position the suction hose into the clamp.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the suction hose retaining screw into the clamp.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Connect the suction hose to the A/C compressor.

  10. Object Number: 1348923  Size: SH
  11. Install the suction hose retaining bolt to the A/C compressor.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  13. Connect the drive belt to the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement.
  14. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  15. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  16. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .

Suction Hose Replacement LH2 without C57

Special Tools

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Remove the suction hose quick connect fitting. Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement.
  3. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
  4. Separate the suction line from the clamp.
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.

  6. Object Number: 1348923  Size: SH
  7. Remove the suction hose retaining bolt from the compressor.
  8. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
  2. Install the suction hose.
  3. Connect the suction hose to the suction pipe.
  4. Install the suction hose quick connect fitting. Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement.
  5. Position the suction hose into the bracket.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the suction hose retaining screw into the bracket.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  10. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
