J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

  2. Object Number: 1335111  Size: SH
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Remove the front air deflector retainers.
  5. Remove the front air deflector.

  6. Object Number: 799114  Size: SH
  7. Remove the desiccant bag plug (1).
  8. Note: Record the amount of any lost PAG oil from the desiccant bag to maintain the correct total system amount.

  9. Remove the desiccant bag (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1387887  Size: SH
  1. Install the desiccant bag (1).
  2. Lubricate the O-ring on the desiccant bag plug. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 799114  Size: SH
  4. Install the desiccant bag plug (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the plug to 2.9 N·m (26 lb in).

  6. Install the front air deflector.
  7. Install the front air deflector retainers.

  8. Object Number: 1335111  Size: SH
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Add the proper amount of oil. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities.
  11. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  12. Leak test the fittings of the component with J 39400-A .
