Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Open all doors.
  2. Observe each door courtesy lamp located on the bottom of the interior door trim.

Do the door courtesy lamps operate properly for all doors?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Do the interior courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

Is the inoperative door courtesy lamp located on one of the front doors?

Go to Step 5

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the door with the inoperative courtesy lamp.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Exterior Courtesy Lamp Status parameter in the door control module data display list associated with the inoperative door courtesy lamp.

Does the scan tool indicate the Exterior Courtesy Lamp Status parameter is ON?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door courtesy lamp.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the door courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit and ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Make sure the door is open.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Test the courtesy lamp control high circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test the courtesy lamp control low circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the C2 harness connector of the door control module associated with the inoperative door courtesy lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Locate and repair an open or high resistance in the inoperative door courtesy lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 13

Locate and repair an open or high resistance in the inoperative door courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the inoperative door control module. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
