Front Shock Absorber Yoke Replacement RWD

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1689967 Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the shock to yoke retaining nut (1).
  4. Remove the shock to yoke retaining bolt (2) by pulling up slightly on the lower control arm to remove the pressure on the bolt.

  5. Remove the yoke to lower control arm bolt (1).
  6. Remove the yoke (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1689969 Size: SH
  1. Position the yoke (2) to the shock and control arm.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the yoke to control arm bolt (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  3. Install the shock to yoke retaining bolt (2).
  4. Install the shock yoke nut (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).

  5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Front Shock Absorber Yoke Replacement AWD

Tools Required

J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1209258 Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the shock to yoke retaining nut.
  4. Remove the shock to yoke retaining bolt by pulling up slightly on the lower control arm to remove the pressure on the bolt.

    5. Object Number: 874633 Size: SH
  5. Remove the yoke to lower control arm retaining nut.

    6. Object Number: 743091 Size: SH
  6. Using the J 24319-B , separate the yoke from the lower control arm.

    7. Object Number: 874641 Size: SH
  7. Remove the yoke from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 874641 Size: SH
  1. Install the yoke to the vehicle.

    2. Important: Do not tighten the nut at this time.


    Object Number: 874633 Size: SH
  2. Install the yoke to lower control arm retaining nut.

    3. Object Number: 1209258 Size: SH
  3. Install the yoke to the shock.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the yoke to shock retaining bolt and nut.

    5. Tighten

        • Tighten the shock to yoke nut to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
        • Tighten the yoke to lower control arm nut to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).
  5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
