Check Engine Light On DTC P0446 , P0451 or P0453 May Have a Hard-to-Fill Fuel Tank - kw emissions evaporative fill hose line pipe tube vent

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

DTC P0446, P0451, P0453 and/or a concern of a difficult to fill fuel tank may be caused by a restriction in the evaporative vent pipe located between the right side wheel well area near the fuel filler neck and the fuel tank.

Look for spider webs or nests, plastic flash, adhesives, or other foreign materials in the pipe. Also inspect for a pinched or twisted vent pipe. Remove the restriction by disconnecting the vent pipe from the fuel tank and flushing with clean water or replace the pipe as necessary. Installing a screen (A/C kit J-44551-16 screen size B fits well) over the end of the pipe may help to prevent future blockages

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
