Service VME Service Stability Message On DTC C0196 Cadillac STS - keywords ABS DIC IPC stabilitrak suspension YAW

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

During review of parts for the 2005 STS at the Warranty Parts Center, we have noticed several Yaw Sensors that have been replaced while in dealer stock. The repair orders indicate that these vehicles have had the Service Stability message displayed on the DIC and DTC C0196 set. This code may have set during transport from the assembly plant to the ship lot if the transport driver did not turn the ignition off while the vehicle was being transported. In this case, the EBCM will see vehicle movement without steering or wheel speed input and set the code.

Do not replace the yaw sensor. Clear the codes and see if it will reset during the normal PDI test drive

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
