Subject: | Service VME - Front Seat Chirp Noise |
Models: | 2005 Cadillac STS |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
During review of parts for the 2005 STS at the Warranty Parts Center we have seen several seat adjusters that have been replaced for a chirp or rattle condition. This condition may be noticed more on the passenger side of the vehicle when the seat is not occupied. The #2 Bar in the floorpan may have become deformed upward at the outboard attachment during seat installation at the assembly plant, which allows the front of the seat to move slightly in the vertical direction. It is not necessary to replace the seat adjuster to repair this condition. Just remove the Front Seat and straighten the metal on #2 Bar of the floorpan at the outboard attachment if it is deformed then reinstall the Front Seat.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
