Subject:Transmission Oil Cooler Lines Deletion of Cooler Thermal Bypass Valve

Models:2004-2005 Cadillac SRX
2005 Cadillac STS

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A change in production removed the transmission cooler thermal bypass valve effective December 2004.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If replacing transmission oil cooler lines on a vehicle prior to the VIN breakpoints listed below, it is possible to receive the second design cooler lines. Second design cooler lines can be identified by a 90 Degree bend at the transmission end. In this case, it will be necessary to replace both lines and discard the thermal bypass valve that is mounted to the transmission. The first design cooler lines can be identified as being straight at the transmission end.
