Some customers may comment that the outside rear view mirrors (side view mirrors) jump, move in a jerky or slow manner, or are inoperative.
This condition may be caused by casting flash remaining on the two upper glass stabilizers rubbing or binding against the mirror housing (shell).
Remove the casting flash with an abrasive instrument using the following procedure:
Notice: Do not allow any abrasive surface to come in contact with painted areas of the mirror housing or the reflective surface of the mirror. Sandpaper or other abrasives may damage the paint finish or scratch reflective surfaces.
• | As an alternative, an emery board with one side covered with tape may also be used for this repair. |
• | Another alternative is to fold a piece of sandpaper into three layers (accordion-style) so that one side is smooth. |
