Customers may comment on rust flakes on the floor carpet of the vehicle. Customers may also state that the rust flakes soil the shoes of rear seat occupants.
This condition may be caused by rust on the front driver's side and passenger's side seat adjuster assembly.

Remove rust from front seat adjuster assembly. | Do not replace a front seat adjuster assembly. |
Remove the front seats from the vehicle. Remove rust from the front seat adjuster assembly with Scotch-Brite™ General Purpose Pad Maroon, P/N 051131-07447 (or equivalent). Paint the front seat adjuster assemblies with a black, brush-on rust preventive paint such as Rust-Oleum® (or equivalent).
3.1. | Wrap cloth or plastic around the seat back, seat cushion, armrest, head restraint, and seat trim. |
3.2. | Mask and tape the bottom of the seat with cloth or plastic. Do not cover the front seat adjuster assemblies with a cloth or plastic wrap. |
3.3. | Place a drop cloth between the seat frame and the front seat adjuster assembly. |
