The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A broken or damaged rear window defogger grid line can interfere with the operation of the remote keyless entry, keyless access, or Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) systems.
Note: The Cadillac STS is equipped with Remote Vehicle Start (RVS). The rear window defogger can be personalized to come on during cold temperatures. A broken defogger grid may cause a complaint of the keyless entry system becoming inoperative after the vehicle has been remote started.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Disable the rear defog feature under remote start options and retest. If the concern is gone, inspect the rear window defogger grid lines. Refer to TSB 03-08-44-005D for information on proper inspection and repair of the rear defogger grid lines.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
