Condition
Some customers may comment on a groan noise coming from the right side of the instrument panel or from the instrument panel compartment area. Technicians may find that the noise occurs when the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system switches between the recirculation mode and the outside air mode.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the recirculation door actuator's plastic pin wearing on the actuator lever.
Correction
Do This | Don't Do This |

Replace the recirculation door actuator lever. | DO NOT apply grease to the original part. This will not correct the problem. |
Technicians are to install a recirculation door actuator lever service kit. Refer to the instructions included with the service kit and the Air Inlet Assembly Replacement and the Recirculation Actuator Replacement procedures in SI.
