Service Tire Monitor or Low Tire Pressure Appears on Driver Information Center (DIC) for Several Minutes Before Message Display Clears (Reconfigure RCDLR with Tech 2)

Subject:"Service Tire Monitor" or "Low Tire Pressure" Appears on Driver Information Center (DIC) For Several Minutes Before Message Display Clears (Reconfigure RCDLR with Tech 2®)

Models:2005-2006 Cadillac STS
with Japan Export TPM System (RPO UH3)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the "Service Tire Monitor" warning or "Low Tire Pressure" message appears on the Driver Information Center. After driving for several minutes, the message will clear from the display.

Technicians will find the tire pressures are correct.

Cause

The TPM system in Japanese export vehicles is a low powered system. This may cause a faulty signal transmission from the TPM sensor to the RCDLR. The RCDLR will then trigger the display to appear on the DIC.

Correction

The TPM system must be reconfigured to only recognize when more than two consecutive abnormal pressure signals have been captured by the RCDLR.

Reconfigure the RCDLR using Tech 2® version 27.004 (or newer) following the procedure below:

Important: As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.

  1. Using a Tech 2®, choose Module.
  2. Select "Setup" from the Vehicle Control Systems menu.
  3. Select "Setup New RCDLR" and then select "Step 1".
  4. Select "Continue".
  5. Choose the appropriate style of STS (ignore any "*" that are shown).
  6. Select "Save Options".
  7. Important: This step is only necessary if you are setting up a new module.

  8. If you are setting up a new module, continue to "Step 2". This will secure the module.
