Subject: | Bluetooth Phone Interface Concerns |
Models: | 2005- 2008 Cadillac STS and STS-V with YQ4 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment they experience concerns when using the Bluetooth phone interface. It is important to understand that the operational characteristics and functionality of Bluetooth can vary with each phone model and service provider. Some concerns such as "dropped calls" and "echo" may be the result of cellular network problems. These type concerns will not likely be resolved through attempted repairs to the vehicle.
• | Closely question the customer about their concern(s) to develop a complete understanding of what they are experiencing. Ask the customer to demonstrate the concern if possible. |
• | Review the Phone section in the Navigation System owners manual and ensure you and the customer understand how to operate the system. |
• | Review TECH Assist course 19047.12T1- Bluetooth Operation & Troubleshooting (Tech assist) available at www.gmtraining.com. |
• | Record the service provider and model phone they are using in your records (i.e. Cingular Motorola Razr V3i). |
• | Review bulletin 05-08-126-001B for vehicles built prior to December 2006 and update the software if necessary. |
• | Contact Technical Assistance for any additional questions. |
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
