Remote Vehicle Start Or Memory Recall Inoperative

Subject:Remote Vehicle Start or Memory Recall Inoperative

Models:2005- 2008 Cadillac STS and STS-V

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may comment that the Remote Vehicle Start (RVS) is inoperative. The cause may be the keyless transmitter programmed as FOB 3 or 4. This may be the result of a failure to correctly program a replacement transmitter. The vehicles listed above are capable of recognizing up to four transmitters, but transmitters programmed as FOB 3 or 4 are not supported with driver personalization or RVS.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Ensure that the transmitter in question is not programmed as FOB 3 or 4 by identifying the FOB # with the scan tool. (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver " Data Display " Remote Control Door Lock Receiver " Key FOB Information).
  2. If the transmitter in question is programmed as FOB 3 or 4 it is necessary to program the transmitter as FOB 1 or 2 using the Transmitter Programming repair instructions listed in SI.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
