  1. Power Window Motor Malfunction
  2. Power Window Switch Malfunction - Passenger

Circuit/System Description

The individual power window switches are monitored and controlled by the passenger door module (PDM), left rear door module (LRDM) and right rear door module (RRDM). Each passenger door window switch is mounted to the trim panel of the passenger door. When a passenger window switch is operated, the switch contacts close and the associated door control module detects the drop in voltage as a specific request to command the window up or down. If conditions are correct for window operation to occur, the door control module communicates the up/down command to the power window motor and the power window motor moves the window to the desired position.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The PDM, LRDM, or RRDM must be powered.
    • DTC B1325 must not be current.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The PDM, LRDM, or RRDM detects an up command or down command for greater than 30 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • When B3160 02 is current, the appropriate door module will ignore the up command input.
    • When B3165 02 is current, the appropriate door module will ignore the down command input.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The door control module does not detect the failure for 6 consecutive seconds.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Window Switch parameter while using the power window switch. The parameter should change from Idle to Up, Down and Express Down.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate passenger window switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Window Switch parameter is Idle.
  3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the door control module.
    • Signal circuit terminal 1
    • Signal circuit terminal 2
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger window switch.
