DTC Descriptor
DTC B3832 08: Window Express UP System/Function Not Initialized
Circuit Description
The express Up function of the power windows is monitored and controlled by the front and rear door modules and the individual window sensors. Each power window motor has a window sensor mounted to it. Each door module communicates with its power window
sensor via the power window motor up/down command lines. The power window motors communicate with the door modules via the power window status circuit. The window sensors detect differences in the window motors electrical pulses to determine if there is an obstruction
to the travel of the window glass. The power window motors will disable the express up movement of a window in the event that an object has obstructed the windows upward movement.
The power window status circuit is a unique 1-way serial data link between the door module and its power window sensor. The power window motors communicate with there associated door modules by changing the state from high to low over the power window
status circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
• | The DDM, PDM, LRDM, RRDM, and driver window switch must be powered. |
• | DTC B1325 must not be current. |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | The window sensor does not know the actual position of its window glass or there is a fault present on the power window status circuit. The sensor will send a Not Normalized/Not Initialized message over the power window status circuit to its corresponding
door module. |
• | The door modules will attempt an express up function 5 times without receiving proper inputs from the power window motors. |
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The DDM, PDM, LRDM, or RRDM will not allow Express UP operation of the window.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present. |
• | When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles. |
Diagnostic Aids
B3832 08 may be set and the Express Up function disabled if the vehicle or the door module has recently lost power for any reason. You should first attempt to re-initialize the Express Up function. Refer to
Window Motor Programming - Express Function

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate window motor.
- Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the door module.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the signal circuit terminal 3 at the window motor and the signal circuit terminal at the door module listed below:
• | DDM signal circuit terminal 14 |
• | PDM signal circuit terminal 14 |
• | LRDM signal circuit terminal 8 |
• | RRDM signal circuit terminal 8 |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. |
- Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 3 and B+.
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. |
- Connect the harness connector at the window motor and the X2 harness connector at the door module.
- Ignition ON, clear all DTCs and perform the
Window Motor Programming - Express Function
.
- Operate the window within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
⇒ | If B3832 08 resets as current, replace the window motor. |
