The interior rear compartment lid release switch receives a signal from the driver window switch. When the interior rear compartment lid release switch is activated the signal circuit is pulled to ground. The driver window switch interprets this and sends a serial data message to the RIM requesting the rear compartment lid be released.
The system voltage is 9-16 volts.
The driver window switch detects a short to ground in the interior rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds.
The driver window switch ignores the input from the interior trunk release switch.
• | The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present. |
• | When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles. |

Control Module References for scan tool information
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Trunk Release Switch parameter while using the interior rear compartment lid release switch. The parameter should change from Inactive to Active.
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the headlamp switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the interior rear compartment lid release switch. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
