Circuit/System Description

The interior rear compartment lid release switch receives a signal from the driver window switch. When the interior rear compartment lid release switch is activated the signal circuit is pulled to ground. The driver window switch interprets this and sends a serial data message to the RIM requesting the rear compartment lid be released.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The system voltage is 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The driver window switch detects a short to ground in the interior rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The driver window switch ignores the input from the interior trunk release switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Trunk Release Switch parameter while using the interior rear compartment lid release switch. The parameter should change from Inactive to Active.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the interior rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Trunk Release Switch parameter is Inactive.
  3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.
  4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 3 and the ground circuit terminal 1. Verify the scan tool Trunk Release Switch parameter is Active.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.
  6. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the interior rear compartment lid release switch.

Component Testing

Interior Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the interior rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 3 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the open position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the headlamp switch.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 3 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the closed position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace the interior rear compartment lid release switch.
