Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  2. If equipped with the LH2 or LC3 engine then remove the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement for the LH2 engine and Engine Control Module Replacementfor the LC3 engine.
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  5. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts.

  6. Object Number: 1371690  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering cooler hose.

  8. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering lines to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  10. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering gear.
  12. Lower the front of the frame approximately 6 inches. Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  13. Remove the power steering return line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering gear outlet hose to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering gear.
  3. Raise the front of the frame and secure it appropriately. Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering hoses to power steering gear retaining bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft)

  7. Connect the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering cooler hose.

  8. Object Number: 1301688  Size: SH
  9. Install the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  12. If equipped with the LH2 or LC3 engine then install the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement for the LH2 engine and Engine Control Module Replacementfor the LC3 engine.
  13. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  14. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
