Battery Positive Cable Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure

Important: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.


    Object Number: 772424  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.

  3. Object Number: 785724  Size: SH
  4. Depress the tabs in order to remove the cover from the electrical center.

  5. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  6. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the electrical center.

  7. Object Number: 887703  Size: SH
  8. Reposition the protective boot from the generator output BAT terminal for access.
  9. Remove the generator output BAT terminal nut (3) and disconnect the battery positive lead (2) from the generator.

  10. Object Number: 887713  Size: SH
  11. Remove the starter terminal nut (1) and disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the starter.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Remove the battery positive cable from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  6. Connect the battery positive lead (2) to the generator and install the generator BAT terminal nut (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  8. Install the protective boot to the generator output BAT terminal.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Install the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the underhood fuse block.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  13. Install the electrical center cover.

  14. Object Number: 772424  Size: SH
  15. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  17. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Battery Positive Cable Replacement LH2

Removal Procedure

    • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
    • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the battery positive cable (1) from the battery.

  3. Object Number: 785724  Size: SH
  4. Remove the wiring harness from the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.
  5. Depress the tabs in order to remove the underhood fuse block cover from the underhood fuse block.

  6. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  7. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the underhood fuse block.
  8. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the stud.
  9. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 1237944  Size: SH
  11. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the starter motor.
  12. Remove the positive battery cable from the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  13. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1237944  Size: SH
  1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.
  2. Install the positive battery cable to the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  7. Connect the cable retaining clip to the stud.
  8. Install battery positive cable (2) and nut (1) to the underhood fuse block.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Install the underhood fuse block cover to the underhood fuse block.
  11. Install the wiring harness to the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.

  12. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  13. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  15. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Battery Positive Cable Replacement LC3

Removal Procedure

    • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
    • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the battery positive cable (1) from the battery.

  3. Object Number: 785724  Size: SH
  4. Remove the wiring harness from the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.
  5. Depress the tabs in order to remove the underhood fuse block cover from the underhood fuse block.

  6. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  7. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the underhood fuse block.
  8. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the stud.
  9. Remove the supercharger assembly. Refer to Supercharger Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 1237944  Size: SH
  11. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the starter motor.
  12. Remove the positive battery cable from the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  13. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1237944  Size: SH
  1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.
  2. Install the positive battery cable to the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the supercharger. Refer to Supercharger Replacement .
  7. Connect the cable retaining clip to the stud.
  8. Install battery positive cable (2) and nut (1) to the underhood fuse block.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Install the underhood fuse block cover to the underhood fuse block.
  11. Install the wiring harness to the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.

  12. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  13. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  15. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Battery Positive Cable Replacement LH2 with Top Post

Removal Procedure

    • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
    • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

  2. Object Number: 2001604  Size: SH
  3. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to disengage the clamp.
  4. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery (3).

  5. Object Number: 785724  Size: SH
  6. Remove the wiring harness from the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.
  7. Depress the tabs in order to remove the underhood fuse block cover from the underhood fuse block.

  8. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  9. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the underhood fuse block.
  10. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the stud.
  11. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

  13. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the starter motor.
  14. Remove the positive battery cable from the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  15. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.
  2. Install the positive battery cable to the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install battery positive cable (2) and nut (1) to the underhood fuse block.
  9. Tighten

  10. Install the underhood fuse block cover to the underhood fuse block.
  11. Install the wiring harness to the retaining features on the underhood fuse block cover.

  12. Object Number: 2001604  Size: SH
  13. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery (3).
  14. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to engage the clamp
  15. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Battery Positive Cable Replacement LY7 and LLT (LHD) with Top Post

Removal Procedure

Important: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  2. Object Number: 2001604  Size: SH
  3. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to disengage the clamp.
  4. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery (3).

  5. Object Number: 785724  Size: SH
  6. Depress the tabs in order to remove the cover from the electrical center.

  7. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  8. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the electrical center.
  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 887703  Size: SH
  11. Reposition the protective boot from the generator output BAT terminal for access.
  12. Remove the generator output BAT terminal nut (3) and disconnect the battery positive lead (2) from the generator.

  13. Object Number: 887713  Size: SH
  14. Remove the starter terminal nut (1) and disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the starter.
  15. Remove the battery positive cable from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  5. Connect the battery positive lead (2) to the generator and install the generator BAT terminal nut (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  7. Install the protective boot to the generator output BAT terminal.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 772415  Size: SH
  10. Install the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the underhood fuse block.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  12. Install the electrical center cover.

  14. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery (3).
  15. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to engage the clamp
