Master Cylinder Replacement LHD

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1895849  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  2. Remove the air inlet panel support bracket push nut from the master cylinder mounting stud.
  3. Carefully pull the air inlet panel support bracket outward and rotate the panel aside.
  4. Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the master cylinder outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
  7. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the master cylinder outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  8. Remove the 2 master cylinder nuts (1).
  9. Remove the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1895892  Size: SH
  1. If installing a new master cylinder, bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding.
  2. Install the master cylinder to the vacuum brake booster.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the master cylinder nuts (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  8. Install the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  10. Connect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  11. Rotate the air inlet panel and position the support bracket to the master cylinder mounting stud.
  12. Install the air inlet panel support bracket push nut.
  13. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.

  1. Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
  3. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the master cylinder outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  4. Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting and plug the master cylinder outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Remove the 2 master cylinder nuts (1).
  7. Remove the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1921892  Size: SH
  1. If installing a new master cylinder, bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding.
  2. Install the master cylinder to the vacuum brake booster.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the master cylinder nuts (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  8. Install the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  10. Connect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  11. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
