Subject: | SERVICE STABILITY SYS message (C0710 U1822) |
Models: | 2008 Cadillac STS or STS-V with JL7 built before 10/1/07 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
SERVICE STABILITY SYS message is displayed. One or both of the following DTC may be stored:
C0710 Steering Angle Sensor Signal
U1822 Lost Communications With Active Front Steering (AFS) Control Module on Bus B
The cause may be the result of oversized .64 female terminals in some I/P wire harness connectors allowing for poor or intermittent contact. The following connectors may be involved:
Steering Wheel Speed/Position Sensor (JL7)
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) X3
Test the female .64 terminals in these connectors as required using J-35616-64B test probe. Drop or release the test probe into each populated cavity of the connector. Insertion into cavity is not required and the technician can stop as soon as resistance is met. If the tool drops down into any of the populated cavities without resistance, that terminal is non- conforming and should be replaced.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
