Engineering has identified a software anomaly within the ECM.

During the first 30-60 seconds of engine operation after a cold start with engine coolant temperature between -10° and 40°C (14° and 104°F), the engine misfire counter may record misfires on the wrong cylinder. Misfire events occurring on a specific cylinder will be recorded on the next cylinder in the firing sequenced and DTCs will also show for the next cylinder in the firing sequence. For example, misfires occurring on cylinder #1 will be recorded on cylinder #2 and instead of showing DTC P0301, P0302 will be shown. This occurs only during the first 30-60 seconds after a cold start. The misfire detection counter and DTC will indicate the correct cylinder during other engine operating modes.

ECM software will be revised for the 2009 model year. No changes to the ECM software are planned for the 2008 model year.
