Front Outside Door Inop Or Sticky (Passive Entry)

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment driver or passenger front outside door handle will not open the door or is sticky at times. The customer can still enter the vehicle using the key and the interior door handles are still functional. DTC B3849 Exterior Door Handle Switch Circuit may be stored. The cause may be friction in the handle pivot areas causing the handle to not retract and remain in the pulled position. If left long enough, B3849 will store causing the handle to become disabled.

Remove the outside handle and chassis. Apply Lubriplate GR-132 in four places; two in the rear switch area (1) and two in the front pivot area (2) on the outside handle chassis.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
