  2. Passenger Window Switch Malfunction

Circuit Description

The express Up function of the power windows is monitored and controlled by the front and rear door modules and the individual window sensors. Each power window motor has a window sensor mounted to it. Each door module communicates with its power window sensor via the power window motor up/down command lines. The power window motors communicate with the door modules via the power window status circuit. The window sensors detect differences in the window motors electrical pulses to determine if there is an obstruction to the travel of the window glass. The power window motors will disable the express up movement of a window in the event that an object has obstructed the windows upward movement.

The power window status circuit is a unique 1-way serial data link between the door module and its power window sensor. The power window motors communicate with there associated door modules by changing the state from high to low over the power window status circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The PDM, LRDM, or RRDM must be powered.
    • DTC B1325 must not be current.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The PDM, LRDM, or RRDM detects an express down command for greater than 30 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The PDM, LRDM, or RRDM will ignore the express down input from the affected window switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Window Switch parameter while using the power window switch. The parameter should change from Idle to Up, Down and Express Down.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate passenger window switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Window Switch parameter is Idle.
  3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door control module.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger window switch.
