Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Remove the LH wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
.
Remove the suction hose bolt at the compressor.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp and/or bracket.
Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
Remove the suction hose quick connect fitting at the bulk head. Refer to
Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement
.
Disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator core.
Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
Installation Procedure
Install the new O-rings into the suction hose. Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
.
Install the suction hose.
Connect the suction hose to the evaporator core.
Install the suction hose quick connect fitting. Refer to
Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement
.
Position the liquid line into the bracket.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the suction hose retaining screw into the bracket and tighten to
1 N·m (9 lb in)
.
Raise the vehicle.
Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
Install the retaining bolt to the compressor and tighten to
9.8 N·m (87 lb in)
.
Install the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
.
Install the LH wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Lower the vehicle.
Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
Using
J 39400-A
, leak test the fittings of the component.

Install new O-rings onto the suction hose. Refer to
O-Ring Replacement

Install the suction hose.
Connect the suction hose to the evaporator core.
Install the suction hose quick connect fitting. Refer to
Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement
.
Position the liquid line into the bracket.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the suction hose retaining screw into the clamp and tighten to
1 N·m (9 lb in)
.
Raise the vehicle.
Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
Install the retaining bolt to the compressor and tighten to
9.8 N·m (87 lb in)

Lower the vehicle.
