Battery Negative Cable Replacement LH2 with Top Post

Removal Procedure

Note: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.


    Object Number: 2001603  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

  2. Object Number: 2001856  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) from the battery current sensor (2).

  4. Object Number: 2001854  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the cable retaining clip (4) from the stud (3) on the shock tower.
  6. Remove the bolt (1) securing the negative battery cable (2) to the shock tower.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  9. Remove the bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable (1) to the engine block.
  10. Remove the negative battery cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the negative battery cable to the engine.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2001852  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable (1) to the engine block and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  4. Lower the vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 2001854  Size: SH
  6. Install the bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable (1) to the shock tower and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  7. Connect the cable retaining clip (4) to the stud (3) on the shock tower.

  8. Object Number: 2001856  Size: SH
  9. Connect the I/P harness electrical connector (1)) to the battery current sensor (2).
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Negative Cable Replacement LC3

Removal Procedure

Note: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.


    Object Number: 1484712  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the left side engine compartment sight shield.
  3. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) harness electrical connector (1) from the battery current sensor.

  5. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the stud on the shock tower.
  7. Remove the bolt securing the negative battery cable (2) to the shock tower.

  8. Object Number: 1201078  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the negative battery cable.
  10. Disconnect the cable retaining clips from the engine bracket.

  11. Object Number: 1201076  Size: SH
  12. Remove the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the engine block.
  13. Remove the negative battery cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the negative battery cable to the engine.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1201076  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the engine block and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1201078  Size: SH
  5. Connect the cable retaining clips to the engine bracket.
  6. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the negative battery cable.

  7. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  8. Install the bolt securing the negative battery cable (2) to the shock tower and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  9. Connect the cable retaining clip to the stud on the shock tower.

  10. Object Number: 1484712  Size: SH
  11. Connect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) to the battery current sensor.
  12. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
  13. Install the left side engine compartment sight shield.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Negative Cable Replacement LH2 With Side Post

Removal Procedure

Note: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) harness electrical connector (1) from the battery current sensor.

  4. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the stud on the shock tower.
  6. Remove the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the shock tower.

  7. Object Number: 1201078  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the negative battery cable.
  9. Disconnect the cable retaining clips from the engine bracket.

  10. Object Number: 1201076  Size: SH
  11. Remove the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the engine block.
  12. Remove the negative battery cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the negative battery cable to the engine.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the engine block and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1201078  Size: SH
  5. Connect the cable retaining clips to the engine bracket.
  6. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the negative battery cable.

  7. Object Number: 1201077  Size: SH
  8. Install the bolt securing the negative battery cable to the shock tower and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  9. Connect the cable retaining clip to the stud on the shock tower.

  10. Object Number: 1484712  Size: SH
  11. Connect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) to the battery current sensor.
  12. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Negative Cable Replacement LY7, LLT With Top Post

Removal Procedure

Note: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

  2. Object Number: 2001856  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) from the battery current sensor (2).

  4. Object Number: 2001854  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the cable retaining clip (4) from the stud (3) on the shock tower.
  6. Remove the bolt (1) securing the negative battery cable (2) to the shock tower.
  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 2001851  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable (1) to the engine block.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the negative battery cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2001851  Size: SH
  1. Position the negative battery cable.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the bolt (2) securing the negative battery cable (1) to the engine block and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 2001854  Size: SH
  5. Connect the cable retaining clip (4) from the stud (3) on the shock tower.
  6. Install the bolt (1) securing the negative battery cable (2) to the shock tower and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Object Number: 2001856  Size: SH
  8. Connect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) to the battery current sensor (2).
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Negative Cable Replacement LY7 With Side Post

Removal Procedure

Note: 

   • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
   • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel (I/P) harness electrical connector (1) from the battery current sensor.

  3. Object Number: 772418  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt (1) securing the negative battery cable to the side rail.
  5. Disconnect the body harness connector (3) from the negative battery cable.

  6. Object Number: 1522523  Size: SH
  7. Remove the stud securing the negative battery cable to the engine block.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Remove the negative battery cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1522523  Size: SH
  1. Install and position the negative battery cable.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the negative battery cable to engine block stud and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 772418  Size: SH
  5. Install the bolt (1) securing the negative battery cable to the side rail and tighten to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).
  6. Connect the body harness connector (3) to the negative battery cable.

  7. Object Number: 1484712  Size: SH
  8. Connect the I/P harness electrical connector (1) to the battery current sensor.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
