🢒 Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
Remove the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
.
If equipped with the 4.6L V8 (LH2) engine or the 4.4L V8 (LC3) engine, remove the engine control module. Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the LH2 engine and
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the LC3 engine.
Place drain pans under the vehicle.
Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
.
Remove the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts.
Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering cooler hose.
Remove the power steering hoses to power steering gear retaining bolt.
Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering gear.
Lower the front of the frame approximately 15 cm (6 in). Refer to
Front Frame Replacement
.
Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Position the power steering gear outlet hose in the vehicle.
Install the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering gear.
Raise and install the front of the frame. Refer to
Front Frame Replacement
.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the power steering hoses to power steering gear retaining bolt and tighten to
23 N·m (17 lb ft)
.
Install the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering cooler hose with the hose clamp.
Install the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts and tighten to
10 N·m (88 lb in)
.
Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
If equipped with the LH2 engine or the LC3 engine, install the engine control module. Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the LH2 engine and
Engine Control Module Replacement
for the LC3 engine.
Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
.
Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Install the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
.
Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
