Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  2. If equipped with the 4.6L V8 (LH2) engine or the 4.4L V8 (LC3) engine, remove the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement for the LH2 engine and Engine Control Module Replacement for the LC3 engine.
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
  4. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  5. Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.

  7. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts.

  8. Object Number: 1371690  Size: SH
  9. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering cooler hose.

  10. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering hoses to power steering gear retaining bolt.

  12. Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the power steering gear.
  14. Lower the front of the frame approximately 15 cm (6 in). Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  15. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 908682  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering gear outlet hose in the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering gear.
  3. Raise and install the front of the frame. Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering hoses to power steering gear retaining bolt and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  6. Object Number: 1371690  Size: SH
  7. Install the power steering gear outlet hose to the power steering cooler hose with the hose clamp.

  8. Object Number: 1301688  Size: SH
  9. Install the power steering gear outlet hose to frame retaining bolts and tighten to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
  10. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  11. If equipped with the LH2 engine or the LC3 engine, install the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement for the LH2 engine and Engine Control Module Replacement for the LC3 engine.
  12. Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.
  13. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  14. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  15. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
