IMPROPER AIR DELIVERY FROM ECC (SERVICE INFORMATION/PROC.)

SUBJECT: IMPROPER AIR DELIVERY FROM ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1980-93 "D, E, K AND V" MODELS

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES AND REPLACES GM OF CANADA BULLETIN 91-1-142 AND CADILLAC BULLETIN T-87-123. THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO INCLUDE THE 1992-1993 MODEL YEARS.

When diagnosing an air delivery problem on a car equipped with electronic climate control, all tests must be performed with the programmer mounted in the proper position. Failure to do this may result in improper diagnosis and unnecessary programmer replacement. The programmer must remain in the vertical position so the checkballs in the solenoids will seat properly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
