TRANSMISSION DRIVEN GOVERNOR GEAR DAMAGE - THM 325
When diagnosing for "no upshift" or "late upshift" on a THM 325 transmission, inspect the driven governor gear for the condition shown below. If this condition is observed, the governor assembly mmst be replaced. It is also important that the governor drive gear on the output shaft also be replaced to prevent the condition from re-occurring.
Removal of the output shaft and internal parts with the governor assembly in place can damage the gear teeth of the driven governor gear. To prevent damage to the driven governor gear, the governor assembly must be removed from the transmission before removing the output shaft and internal parts.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
