MAP AND BARO SENSOR DFI ENGINES

NEW MAP AND BARO SENSORS MANUFACTURED BY DELCO ELECTRONICS DIVISION ARE SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN PRODUCTION ON SOME DFI VEHICLES IN THE NEAR FUTURE. OTHERS WILL HAVE THE FAMILIAR BENDIX SENSORS. WHEN A 1981 DFI VEHICLE WITH THESE NEW DELCO SENSORS REQUIRES THAT ONE OF THESE SENSORS BE REPLACED, IT MUST BE REPLACED WITH A SENSOR OF THE SAME MANUFACTURER. PART NUMBERS FOR THE NEW DELCO SENSORS ARE: BARO SENSOR P/N 16006833 MAP SENSOR P/N 16006832 VEHICLES ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX SENSORS CAN BE SERVICED WITH DELCO SENSORS BUT BOTH THE MAP AND BARO SENSORS MUST BE REPLACED AND A SENSOR MOUNTING BRACKET KIT MUST BE USED TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION. THE ILLUSTRATIONS BELOW AND ON THE REVERSE SIDE SHOW THE SENSORS AND BRACKET KITS. IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BENDIX SENSORS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR SERVICE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, DELCO SENSORS MUST BE USED AS SERVICE REPLACEMENT FOR ALL SENSORS, THUS REQUIRING BOTH DELCO SENSORS AND BRACKET KIT. * ILLUSTRATION *

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
