SYMPHONIC SOUND RADIO SPEAKER BUZZ

SOME 1981 "C" SERIES SEDANS AND SEVILLES EQUIPPED WITH SYMPHONIC SOUND RADIO OPTION MAY EXPERIENCE SOME REAR SEAT SPEAKER BUZZ. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE SPEAKER CONE DEFLECTING ON SOME BASS TONES ENOUGH TO CONTACT THE SPEAKER MOUNTING BRACKET. REFER TO ILLUSTRATION FIGURE 1, POINT "A". REMOVAL OF THE SPEAKER AND INSPECTION OF THE SPEAKER CONE AT POINT "A" SHOULD REVEAL A CREASE (SHOWN IN FIGURE 2) IF THE CONE HAS BEEN DEFLECTING ENOUGH TO TOUCH THE BRACKET. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, BEND BRACKET TAB AWAY FROM CONE AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 3. THIS CONDITION SHOULD NOT BE FOUND ON CARS BUILT AFTER MARCH 1, 1981.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
